A break for freedom.

A mexican helped us with the formalities of the border crossing.  We were crossing no mans land, the 50 or so meters between the countries check points, when we heard this big commotion coming from the Mexican side we had just left.  Around the corner came a 10 year old boy with about 50 people running after him yelling.  He was quick enough to catch the border police off guard as they stood at their posts and had made it into no mans land.  There was one more officer standing between him and freedom!  The boy had a huge creeky grim on his face as he approached and I think favoured himself against the officer.  He threw a balk to the left that Micheal Long would have been proud of, then balked back to the right, just about past him, unfortunatly  officer just managed put out his leg out in time and tripped the boy, who fell.  He grabbed the boy and by then the mob and swarmed around him.  Hearing all the commotion, people from the other side of the border started running in and there was his huge crowd yelling and running.  We got out of there quick smart and jumped in a taxi, heading for the near by town of Malacatan to catch a bus to Guatemala City.
